About the role
The Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA)/DTI Paraeducator works in a special education program with elementary aged children with Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Disabilities under the direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and special education teachers.
Responsibilities
- Implement individual and small group instruction to students with specific behavior programs
- Implement lesson plans developed by the special education teacher or BCBA to support student success in all school settings
- Manage and organize lesson materials, preparations and other functions to support each student's individualized education plan (IEP)
- Collect data and maintain documentation for each student
- Follow behavior intervention plans under the supervision of the BCBA and special education teacher
- Participate in ongoing professional learning
- Support students with personal hygiene and incorporate safety measures for students
Supervision
Supervised by Special Education Supervisor and/or School Principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education or related field preferred but not necessary
- Experience working directly with children with autism and/or behavioral challenges within a behavioral program preferred but not necessary
- PMT or similar training preferred
- New college graduates encouraged to apply
Pay
Starting salary $25.87/hour in accordance with the Agreement Between Cheshire Board of Education and CSEA/SEIU Local 2001/760 in Behalf of the Cheshire Paraeducators and Lunchroom/Playground Aides. Benefits available.
