About the role
Works with the Regional Orthopedic Institute team to develop and review orthopedic clinical policies and procedures.
Develops patient education and community outreach materials in collaboration with marketing to inform the community and increase market share.
Maintains performance metrics and ensures compliance with activities required to achieve and maintain practice-specific certifications.
Conducts daily rounds on in-patients with physicians to ensure desired patient outcomes and coordinates care issues with the interdisciplinary team.
Collaborates with case management on post-op discharge planning and strategies to decrease length of stay.
PARTNERS WITH NURSING TO DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE HOSPITAL CONSUMER ASSESSMENT OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND SYSTEMS (HCAHPS) SCORES AND MEET ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS.
WORKS WITH CLINICAL EDUCATORS AND NURSING STAFF TO ENSURE COMPETENCY AND UNDERSTANDING OF ORTHOPEDIC PATIENT NEEDS.
DEVELOPS AND IMPLEMENTS PATIENT EDUCATION PROGRAMS, INCLUDING ONE-ON-ONE TEACHING, PREOPERATIVE CLASSES, AND FAMILY "COACH" PROGRAMS.
COLLABORATES WITH MARKETING TO CREATE COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR ORTHOPEDICS/UROLOGY, INCLUDING HEALTH FAIRS, PHYSICIAN LUNCH-INS, AND LOCAL EVENTS.
UTILIZES AND MONITORS DATA TRACKING SYSTEMS FOR ORTHOPEDIC/UROLOGIC OUTCOMES TO PROVIDE KEY STATISTICS AND IDENTIFY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT.
MANAGES AND ASSESSES QUALITY METRICS REQUIRED BY NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO ENSURE OPTIMAL CLINICAL OUTCOMES.
FACILITATES ORTHOPEDIC GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE MEETINGS WITH SURGEONS AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM MEMBERS.

Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
- Field Of Study Social Work or Communication
- 1+ orthopedic nursing experience [Required]
- 1+ project management and/or process improvement of orthopedic related experience [Required]
Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible and function in a stressful, fast-changing environment. Must possess advanced knowledge in the specialty of Orthopedics and Orthopedic Nursing. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & Power Point preferred. Skilled in providing age-appropriate education. Professional and leadership skills, ability to interact appropriately with patients, families, treatment team, and physicians regarding care management interventions and illness adjustment issues. Advanced knowledge of adult orthopedic treatment, care, and prevention. Ability to communicate with patients, family, and staff in a professional, friendly manner. Proven working relationship with surgeons. Strong detail-orientation and follow-up capacity. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi-task. Aptitude for critical thinking, decision-making, and managing multiple competing priorities. Demonstrated success in relationship building. Ability to keep the team focused on goals/timelines.
