A320 Aircraft Systems Engineer III
About the role
The A320 Family MAP Systems Engineer is a highly technical, operational role responsible for the development, justification, and engineering approval of design solutions related to aircraft systems non-conformities. Operating directly within the fast-paced environment of the Final Assembly Line (FAL), flight line, and delivery center, the jobholder acts as a primary technical interface between local manufacturing operations and the transnational Airbus Design Offices and Chief Engineering networks.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and approve real-time technical solutions for systems non-conformities (NCs or ALBs) discovered during assembly, ground testing, and production flights.
- Ensure engineering deliverables strictly satisfy the timelines and quality thresholds established in site Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Act by formal engineering delegation in the name of the Airbus Chief Engineering and Systems Center of Competence.
- Coordinate regularly with overseas engineering domains to resolve complex, non-standard system malfunctions where previous data or instructions are unknown.
- Provide hands-on systems engineering support across the entire manufacturing perimeter, from initial section delivery to the final ferry flight.
- Deliver definitive technical explanations to the Flight Test Department and handle direct technical presentations for internal or external customers.
- Create, validate, and authorize design corrective actions, drawing updates, temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions), and concessions.
- Maintain absolute accountability for the safety and compliance of released data in front of the corresponding design offices and international aeronautical authorities (EASA/FAA).
- Meet the team: Our Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take our aircraft from concept to customer delivery - working with production teams on every aspect of assembly from managing technical information, quality control, maintenance tasks and health & safety - along flowlines and flightlines.
- Your challenges: Live On-Aircraft Troubleshooting: Perform immediate, hands-on on-aircraft troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments to isolate and resolve systems non-functioning or malfunctioning issues during ground and flight line operations.
- Test Data Assessment: Analyze, interpret, and evaluate specialized aircraft system test data generated during ground tests and production flights to diagnose deviations and assess effects on aircraft safety.
- Aircraft Flight Line Readiness & Test Integration: Provide hands-on systems engineering support across the entire manufacturing perimeter, from initial section delivery to the final ferry flight.
- Engineering System Governance & Quality Compliance: Create, validate, and authorize design corrective actions, drawing updates, temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions), and concessions.
- Corrective & Preventive Action: Launch and monitor engineering improvements, modification updates, and Design Query Notes (DQNs) to structurally eliminate recurring industrial errors.
