A. Supervisor of Adult Community Support Services

About the role

New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) is one of the largest not-for-profit agencies of its kind in the nation, providing services to infants, children, and adults with developmental and related disabilities. As the Supervisor of Adult Community Support Services (SACSS), you will provide coverage for employment, home, and community services while carrying a caseload. This highly independent position requires excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, along with the ability to problem-solve. You will work closely with the program director in program development and expansion and collaborate with management and staff to ensure smooth client admissions.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision of Employment Specialists and Individual Support Workers.
• Develop a working knowledge of the standards set by the agency and funding entities.
• Review and approve service reports according to DVRS/DDD standards and requirements.
• Develop employer contacts for successful job placements and collaborations.
• Plan, develop, and implement service plans.
• Provide weekly and monthly field monitoring to ensure quality support is delivered.
• Maintain appropriate correspondence with families, community agencies, employers, and other stakeholders.
• Assist supervisor with special projects or grants as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working with persons with disabilities, providing employment support.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing and must be insurable through NJID’s automobile insurance.
• Strong organizational, written, and communication skills.

Location & Schedule

This position is located in Edison, Middlesex County, with a weekly work schedule of 35 hours. The schedule is flexible. NJID offers full-time, part-time, and per diem DSP opportunities in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Somerset Counties.
