Physical Demands: list of physical demands. Could be considered part of Requirements or Qualifications? Might be separate but we have no specific heading for Physical Demands. Could include under Requirements or Qualifications. The instruction: Use headings for sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. So we need to map content accordingly.
About the role: maybe a brief description: "By joining Silvi Materials as a Diesel Mechanic, you will take pride in working on our fleet of mixers, heavy equipment, and/or Class A trailers. If you enjoy all things diesel, you should be working for Silvi Materials! Silvi Materials has been expanding our “A” Team of employees since 1947! Our team has grown to 15+ companies, employing over 950 people across 30+ locations in Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina. Silvi is large enough to provide the stability you need, but small enough that you can feel your individual contribution to our success. We value the fresh ideas and perspectives of each new member of our team." That's about the role/company.
Responsibilities: the list of duties.
Requirements: maybe the qualifications? But we also have Qualifications heading separate. Usually Requirements could be minimal qualifications (experience, license). Qualifications could be preferred certifications etc. But we need to decide.
We have "Qualifications Required as a Silvi Materials Diesel Mechanic ..." then list many items. That seems like qualifications. Could treat that as Qualifications section. Requirements could be the basic: Fleet/transportation repair and maintenance experience of at least 3 years, preferably for a medium- to large-sized company; Valid Driver's License; Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems; Ability to work independently; Ability to read and understand maintenance and parts manuals, etc. But many of those overlap.
Better: Use Requirements for the mandatory items (experience, driver's license, knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic, ability to work independently, ability to read manuals, knowledge/experience with heavy-duty vehicles, knowledge of safety regulations, ability to perform maintenance in garage/field, sense of urgency, follow-up skills, analytical/problem-solving/customer service). Qualifications for preferred/certifications: CDL A, PA Inspection License A+, AC/Refrigeration Technician Certification, DOT brake adjustment certification.
Skills: maybe we can extract skills like analytical, problem-solving, customer service, etc. But we already have those in qualifications. Could create Skills section for things like "analytical, problem-solving, customer service skills", "follow-up skills", "sense of urgency and ownership", "ability to work independently". But we might not need Skills if we already covered.
We need to avoid filler sections. So we should include sections that have real content.
Let's list potential sections:
- About the role: we have paragraph about company and role.
- Responsibilities: list of duties.
- Requirements: mandatory qualifications/experience.
- Qualifications: preferred certifications/licenses.
- Benefits: medical, prescription, dental, vision, 401K, pension, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, overtime as needed, vacation, paid holidays.
- Pay: pay ranges and signing bonus details.
- Schedule: shift times (2nd shift 400 pm start, 3rd shift 1000 pm start) plus shift differential.
We should not include Skills if we don't have distinct content beyond what's already in Requirements/Qualifications. But we could still include Skills if we have specific skill statements not covered. The posting mentions "Possesses analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills." That's a skill. Also "Excellent follow-up skills". "Ability to work independently". "Sense of urgency and ownership". Those could be skills. But we could put them under Requirements or Qualifications. Since we have both Requirements and Qualifications, we could put skills under Requirements. But we need to decide.
Given instruction: Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. So maybe we combine Requirements and Qualifications into one? But we have both headings allowed. However we could decide to include only Requirements and Qualifications if they have distinct content. Let's see if we can separate meaningfully.
Requirements (mandatory):
- Fleet/transportation repair and maintenance experience of at least 3 years, preferably for a medium- to large-sized company.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance and parts manuals, maintenance and wiring diagrams, schematics and other written instructions related to the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience with repair and maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles.
- Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, DOT as they apply to the operation.
- Ability to perform maintenance and repairs in a garage and/or the field, in conformance with the specifications contained in the applicable maintenance manuals, diagrams and/or instructions.
- Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership.
- Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
- Possesses analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Qualifications (preferred/certifications):
- A valid CDL (A class) license preferred.
- A valid PA Inspection License A+ preferred.
- A valid Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification.
- Certification under the federal Department of Transportation guidelines for brake adjustment and repair.
That seems reasonable.
Skills: we could omit as we already covered analytical etc in Requirements. But we could still include a Skills section for "analytical, problem-solving, customer service skills; follow-up skills; ability to work independently; sense of urgency and ownership". However that duplicates. Better to not create Skills to avoid thin section.
Now About the role: we need to capture the company description and role description. Let's craft a concise paragraph using the posting's content: "By joining Silvi Materials as a Diesel Mechanic, you will take pride in working on our fleet of mixers, heavy equipment, and/or Class A trailers. We value the fresh ideas and perspectives of each new member of our team."
That's good.
