A-EMT OR ED TECH – EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and the care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Promotes customer service initiatives.
• Responds to call lights, requests from patient/family.
• Stocks supplies and linens and maintains clean working environment.
• Cleans patient stretchers and straightens patient’s rooms.
• Answers telephones and public inquiries appropriately.
• Processes written orders appropriately.
• Conveys STAT orders to appropriate personnel immediately.
• Enters patient charges for items not charged in PYXIS.
• Performs EKGs and phlebotomy.
• Transports patients.
• Assists with suturing and procedures.
• Maintain par level on supplies.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, and other members of the healthcare team.
• IV insertion.
• Auxiliary with pelvic exams.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current A-EMT licensure (A-EMT) or Current Paramedic licensure (Paramedic).
• Current BLS certification (or obtain prior to the completion of orientation).
• CPI De-escalation training certification (obtain within 6 months).
• Basic computer skills.
