About the Role

The Process Engineer supports production goals and quality assurance for Trinity Plastics, addresses product deficiencies, and provides technical support to both internal teams and external parties. This role ensures awareness and compliance with Quality Management System requirements, including ISO 9001:2015, GMP, and SQF standards, and assists in maintaining the quality management system.

Responsibilities

• Develop new process/product formulations while ensuring product quality assurance.
• Lead improvement projects for existing processes and products.
• Oversee trial runs and approve trial run samples.
• Approve product specifications, formulations, and quality standards.
• Qualify and select raw materials and masterbatches.
• Complete and authorize resin compliance reports.
• Respond to and document customer complaints, maintaining complaint and competitor samples.
• Provide technical support to customers, production, and marketing teams.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure technical updates and regulatory mandates are current.
• Conduct performance evaluations of the Quality Department’s processes and procedures.
• Communicate with raw material vendors for new resin selection, improvements, and troubleshooting.
• Serve as a management representative during ISO, SQF, GMP, and Social Compliance certifications.
• Establish, implement, and maintain quality management system processes.
• Report on the performance of the quality management system to top management and recommend improvements.
• Assist in writing procedures to meet ISO, SQF, and GMP standards.
• Carry out special projects as assigned by management.
• Comply with all plant safety rules and procedures.
• Perform supervisory functions, including employee career development, disciplinary actions, and morale initiatives.
• Ensure employee compliance with safety rules and support plant safety, productivity, and quality goals.
• Manage the budget and operating expenses of the QC Lab.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience in the plastics industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance and supervisory experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage job-related stress and foster productive workplace interactions.
• High degree of interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of design of experiments is a plus.
• Certification in quality management system auditing.
• Proficient statistical and analytical skills.
• Ability to differentiate color.
• Dependable attendance and willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours.

Work Environment

• Inside environmental conditions, protected from weather but not necessarily temperature-controlled.
• Exposure to extreme heat (temperatures above 100°F for periods exceeding one hour).
• High noise levels requiring shouting to communicate.
• Hazards including moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, chemicals, high heat, and combustible materials.
• Unregulated atmospheric conditions such as odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dust.
• Exposure to oils and other fluids via touch or air.
