988 National Back-up Center Crisis Shift Supervisor

Base pay: $25 - $30 per hour. Various full-time and part-time shifts available.

About the role

A day in the life:

• Support Crisis Specialists: Provide real-time supervision, coaching, and support
• Monitor staffing, assignments and 988 activity to ensure coverage
• Monitor 988 Activity: Track queues, responsiveness, documentation, and overall service needs
• Respond to Crises: Step in to support callers and chatters experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, mental health concerns, substance use, or other crises
• Consult on High-Risk Situations: Assist with suicide risk assessments, safety planning, de-escalation, mandated reporting, active rescue, and emergency interventions
• Coordinate Emergency Response: Work with leadership and emergency resources when individuals present an imminent risk of harm
• Coach and Develop Staff: Deliver feedback and guidance to strengthen performance
• Monitor Quality: Review interactions and documentation to improve service delivery
• Support Training: Assist with onboarding, training, and readiness of new Crisis Specialists
• Follow-Up: Address outstanding issues and ensure effective shift handoff

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, human services, social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred
• Minimum of six months of crisis line experience required
• Experience providing supervision, coaching, quality review, training support, shift lead support, or crisis consultation preferred
• At-home high speed internet on a private network
• A private, HIPAA compliant, dedicated office space
