This position supports students with special education needs, including emotional, learning, cognitive, physical, behavioral, or orthopedic needs.
Responsibilities
- Work with children in special education programs, providing instructional and behavioral management follow-through.
- Monitor and address potentially hazardous situations in special/regular education classrooms and work environments.
- Supervise students throughout the day, including before school, lunch, and recess.
- Implement behavior management strategies and techniques in regular education settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or teacher.
Requirements
- Ability to work with students who have special education needs, including handling aggressive or potentially violent outbursts.
- Capability to physically restrain a child if necessary and assist with toileting or diaper changing.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with students, co-workers, teachers, administrators, and the public.
- Background in behavior management is desirable.
- Experience through college training or work with individuals having disabilities is desirable.
- Strong desire to work with special education students.
- Licensed or qualified to receive certification as a Special Education Aide per DPI regulations.
- High School diploma required.
- Must pass all portions of the District Teacher Aide Test.

Pay
Wage will be in compliance with the employee handbook for the time worked.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM (6.75 hours/day) when school is in session.
