About the Role
This position involves working with students who have special education needs, including emotional, learning, cognitive, physical, behavioral, or orthopedic needs. The role requires handling aggressive and potentially violent outbursts, physically restraining children if necessary, and assisting with toileting or diaper changes.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional and behavioral management support to children in special education programs.
- Monitor and address potentially hazardous situations in special and regular education classrooms.
- Supervise students throughout the day, including before school, lunch, and recess.
- Implement behavior management strategies and techniques in regular education settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or teacher.
Requirements
- High School diploma required.
- Must pass all portions of the District Teacher Aide Test.
- Must be licensed or qualified to receive certification as a Special Education Aide per DPI regulations (certification may be obtained after employment).
- Experience with individuals having disabilities through college training or work experience is desirable.
- Strong desire to work with special education students.
- Background in behavior management is desirable.

Pay
Wage will be in compliance with the employee handbook for the time worked.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (5.5 hours/day) when school is in session.
