8th Grade Private Tutor | Math

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized tutoring for an 8th-grade student in core subjects, with a priority focus on math.
• Reinforce the student's strong executive functioning, study skills, and self-confidence.
• Support homework review and test preparation.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and our office about student progress.

Requirements

• Subject Areas: Math (Pre-algebra, algebra 1 concepts, geometry foundations), English/Language Arts (reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar), Study Skills & Executive Functioning (organization, time management, note-taking), Science (life science, earth science, physical science), Test Prep (MCAP and MAP preparation, study strategies).

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years teaching or tutoring experience
• Strong communication skills with students and parents
• Reliable transportation (for in-home sessions)
• Background check clearance

Skills

• Tutoring or teaching experience
• Council Canvas and online education portal experience
• IXL math experience
• Executive functioning coaching experience

$31-34/hour

About the Role

This is for private tutoring located in the greater Potomac, MD area. Applicants MUST live in the Greater Bethesda, Rockville, Kensington, North Bethesda, or Potomac, Maryland areas. This is not a virtual tutoring position!
