About the role

As a Truck Driver in the Army National Guard, you are responsible for operating all wheeled vehicles and equipment over various terrains and roadways. Your duties include overseeing and checking proper loading and unloading of cargo on vehicles and trailers, employing convoy defense techniques, managing the safety of personnel being transported, identifying, correcting, or reporting vehicle deficiencies, and preparing vehicles for movement/shipment by air, rail, or vessel.

Requirements

  • Experience in driver education
  • Interest in driving and mechanics
  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Skills

Developed through training, you will gain skills and experience that can lead to a civilian career with trucking, moving, or bus companies as a tractor, trailer, heavy truck, or bus driver.

Pay

While you learn these skills, you will earn a regular paycheck. The amount earned varies and is subject to change.

Schedule

The schedule for training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 7 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT).
