About the role
As a Truck Driver in the Army National Guard, you are essential to military support. Your responsibilities include operating all wheeled vehicles and equipment over various terrains and roadways, managing the load and safety of transported personnel, employing defensive techniques, identifying and correcting vehicle deficiencies, and preparing vehicles for movement by air, rail, or vessel.
Responsibilities
- Oversight and checking proper loading and unloading of cargo on vehicles and trailers
- Employ convoy defense techniques
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- At least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Between the ages of 17 and 35
- Able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)
Qualifications
- Experience in driver education
- Interest in driving and mechanics
Skills
- Develops skills for civilian careers with trucking, moving, or bus companies as a tractor, trailer, heavy truck, or bus driver
