About the Role

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated registered nursing professional to take on a leadership role in a fast-paced medical intensive care unit at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Our interprofessional medical ICU team provides a variety of specialty nursing care for patients in a compassionate, family-centered way.

The ANM will collaborate with the unit Nurse Manager to support standards of care, provide consultation and expertise in patient care delivery, and contribute to goal achievement through personal action and facilitation of others. This role includes responsibilities at the unit, program, or service level, with potential for expanded duties as assigned by leadership.

Onboarding includes formal leadership orientation classes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert patient care and serve as a resource and consultant in the delivery of critical care nursing.
• Support activities at the service, nursing practice, and institutional levels to achieve unit and hospital goals.
• Participate in the management of human resources, including recruitment and retention strategies.
• Monitor patient outcomes and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.
• Assume an integral role in unit education, resource allocation, and articulating unit goals.
• Communicate effectively within the unit and service, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Respond to other unit duties and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS) required.
• One year of ICU experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Competence in critical care nursing modalities with a willingness to develop as a leader.
• Effective leadership and problem-solving abilities.

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $97,760.00 - $131,976.00 annually. Individual salaries will be determined based on factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations.
