68A Medical Equipment Repairer
About the Role
As a Medical Equipment Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will service and maintain all medical equipment to ensure healthcare personnel can detect, diagnose, and treat patients properly. The equipment you work with may involve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, digital, optical, and radiological principles.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance checks on medical equipment.
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning or defective medical equipment.
- Determine power and space requirements for medical equipment installations.
- Install medical equipment.
- Prepare and submit medical equipment reports.

Civilian Career Opportunities
Through your training, you will develop skills applicable to civilian roles such as an electronic instrument repairer in manufacturing, medical research, satellite communications, or commercial airlines. With additional study, you may qualify for the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians certification as a Certified Electronics Technician at the Associate or Journeyman Level-Medical.
Training
Job training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn basic Soldiering skills, followed by 41 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in repairing and replacing equipment parts. Training is split between classroom instruction and fieldwork.

Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
