Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all newsroom operations across broadcast, digital, streaming, and social media platforms
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop reporters, producers, anchors
- Establish and maintain high standards for journalistic integrity, storytelling, writing, and ethical decision-making
- Oversee daily editorial planning, story selection, breaking news coverage, investigative reporting, and special event coverage
- Drive digital-first content strategies that grow audiences across web, mobile, streaming, and social media platforms
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain top newsroom talent while fostering a positive, collaborative workplace culture
- Manage newsroom budgets, staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Collaborate with station leadership, sales, marketing, and engineering to maximize station initiatives and community engagement
- Develop long-term newsroom goals focused on audience growth, innovation, and content excellence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications
- Five or more years of newsroom leadership experience, with previous management experience strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to lead teams through breaking news and severe weather coverage
- Experience with digital audience development and multi-platform content strategies
- Knowledge of ENPS and Edius is preferred
- Strong understanding of FCC regulations, journalistic ethics, and newsroom best practices
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required
