About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and assisting with medical appointments, banking, community activities, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.

The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency. DSP workers must maintain certifications, handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies, and follow all DDS regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping.
• Support personal care tasks such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and assist with banking.
• Help individuals become active members of their community and attend outings.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Adhere to medical guidelines and Agency policies.
• Safely evacuate individuals in case of an emergency.
• Maintain required certifications and comply with DDS regulations.

Qualifications

• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives.
• Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
• Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated member of the team.

Requirements

• High School Degree or G.E.D.
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Valid driver’s license and daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required).
• Available by telephone for daily contact.

Training

• Paid New Employee Orientation.
• Paid CPR/First Aid certification.
• PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training.
• Program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Pay

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

• Tuesday: 11:00 PM – 9:00 AM.
• Friday & Saturday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
• Part-Time: 26 hours per week.
