Full-time, 1-year contract position starting as a 6th-Grade Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Spanish teacher.

About the Role

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, you will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
  • Instruct students in principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters as specified by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Acquire professional knowledge and stay current with developments in the educational field through seminars, workshops, or research.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures.
  • Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Coordinate with other elementary professional staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment, maintaining inventory records.
  • Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities, including those involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.

Requirements

  • Elementary certification (1-8 or K-6).
  • Ability to teach in a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program.
  • Fluent in Spanish.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
