5th Grade Two-Way Immersion (TWI) Educator (SY26/27)

About the role

The Two-Way Immersion (TWI) Educator will provide instruction in Spanish to native English and native Spanish students, adapting classroom work, administering tests and language assessments, advising parents, assessing student progress, collaborating with staff, monitoring students, participating in meetings, preparing written materials, providing instruction in both English and Spanish, and responding to inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work for individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
• Administers tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language ability.
• Advise parents and/or legal guardians on student progress, communicate expectations, achievements, and develop methods for improvement and reinforcement in the home environment.
• Affirmatively assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
• Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various educational environments.
• Participate in a variety of meetings to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
• Prepare a variety of written materials in both English and Spanish to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
• Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direct appropriately.
• Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Report incidents such as fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc., to maintain personal safety of students, provide a positive learning environment, and adhere to Education Code and school policies.
• Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct appropriate personnel for resolution.

Requirements

• Professional Educators License (PEL) with designated subject matter endorsements: Bilingual Education Teacher - Spanish, Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE), Math.
• High levels of proficiency in both English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Expertise in best instructional practices including standards-based teaching, instructional assessment, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction.
• Integration of multi-cultural concepts across the curriculum.
• Skilled in teaching diverse students.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: Job-related experience is required.

Pay

Minimum starting salary with a Bachelor's degree: $56,920 (includes District-paid TRS pension) - pro-rated to start date
Minimum starting salary with a Master's degree: $62,042 (includes District-paid TRS pension) - pro-rated to start date

Schedule

Position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
