Primary Responsibilities
- Multi-skilled technician with a current State Board of Electricity Journeyman or Master license providing focused competency maintenance support.
- Mentoring apprentice (unlicensed) electricians is a requirement.
- Trained on all electrical hazards and is an advocate for our electrical safety programs.
- Continuous job-related training and current electrical license is required for this position.
- Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of intermediate complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.).
- Can troubleshoot internal networks and MES equipment integration.
- Use the National Electrical Code (NFPA 79) to enforce code that applies to electrical installations.
- Diagnose PLC and HMI programs. (Load, modify, create).
- Understand switch functions and trip curves of low voltage circuit breakers.
- Understand the principles of circuit interruption, components of a switchgear assembly, and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Troubleshoot, inspect and clean components in motor controllers MCC’s.
- Bayport Tech: Competent at switching functions, components and operating principles of high voltage (13.8 KVA) switchgear.
- Excellent communication, time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Able to work in a team environment and self-direct activities.
- Manage vital maintenance functions to maximize corporate assets.
- Provide multi-skilled maintenance/electrical support focused on customer service, quality, cost and productivity in a TPM and CI environment.
- Focused on developing maintenance skills and abilities.
- Demonstrate respectful workplace behavior.
- Strong focus on customer service.
- Understand safety rules and procedures to safely perform all tasks.
- Understand LOTO.
- Assist Maintenance team members in the troubleshooting and maintenance of operations equipment.
Qualifications And Skills
- Understand the hazards of and working on electrical components.
- Understand, troubleshoot and problem solve issues of basic complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems (PLC, Drives, Servo, HMI, CNC, etc.).
- Test and perform preventative maintenance.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician License required.
- Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Comeptent at electrical building wiring installed to NFPA 70 electrical code.
- 2-yr technical degree or equivalent past work experience. Continued technical training required each year.
- Understand basic electrical circuits and safely requirements.
- Understand basic function of PLC, drives and controls.
- Understand and operate a volt-ohm-millimeters (VOM) and non-contact voltage testers to properly test for energized electrical circuits.
Physical Requirements
- Some heavy lifting required to replace motors, pumps, extruder screws, etc., at low frequency.
- Occasionally lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally squat, crawl, reach above shoulders, kneel and balance.
- Requires repetitive action such as simple staring, grasping, firm grasping, and fine manipulating. (includes right and left hands).
- Outside work required.
- High work from, ladders and platforms.
- Working in confined space conditions.
- Working near energized electric circuits.
- Working with various chemicals.
- Working near/on hot equipment/materials.
