Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating the forklift in loading, unloading, and moving of product throughout the warehouse facility using proper equipment and procedures. This role works closely with department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members to ensure accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions

  • Operate forklift for transportation of product and materials.
  • As needed, make minor adjustments to the forklift or notify supervisor if forklift is not working properly.
  • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, to ensure compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Must work in a safe manner.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English legibly.
  • Must be detail-oriented and proficient in mathematics.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Able to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision-making ability for the flagging of deviations from procedures.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
  • Must wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
