About the role
The Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist will provide educational programming and support services to students in grades 5-8, focusing on substance use and abuse prevention, health education, and social and emotional wellness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement substance abuse prevention programs aligned with district goals.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community partners to promote healthy behaviors among students.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in substance abuse prevention.
Requirements
- Certified or licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (SAP).
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Qualifications
Experience working with adolescents and a background in substance abuse prevention is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field is required.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
