Aya Locums has an immediate opening for a locum Hematology/Oncology position in Ketchikan, AK, paying $450–$500 per hour.

About the role

This is a 26-week contract assignment starting October 1, 2029 at a critical-access facility. The role involves providing temporary coverage to address staffing shortages in hospitals or other healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other treatment modalities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, manage side effects, and coordinate care with other specialists.
• Consult with other physicians and healthcare team members on complex hematological and oncological cases.
• Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options, and disease management to support informed decision-making.
• Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed, and provide ongoing support.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

Schedule and coverage

• Shift type: Scheduled + No Call
• Shift schedule: Standard 5-day workweek, 8-hour shifts (08:00–17:00)

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Residency training in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
• Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology.
• Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Alaska.
• At least one year of clinical experience in a relevant setting (preferred).
