Pay

$190/hour - $220/hour

Schedule and Coverage

  • 13-week assignment starting 10-26-26
  • Scheduled shifts with no call requirement
  • Standard 5-day workweek, 8-hour shifts (08:00 - 17:00)

Critical Access facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of surgeries including appendectomies, hernia repairs, gallbladder removals, emergency surgeries, and upper and lower endoscopies
  • Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Be on-call for emergency surgeries, such as trauma cases or unexpected complications
  • Provide consultations to patients and other medical professionals regarding surgical options and care plans
  • Educate patients about post-operative care and follow-up requirements
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records

  • Expertise in performing a wide variety of general surgeries with minimal supervision
  • Ability to assess complex medical situations and make sound decisions quickly
  • Excellent manual dexterity and precision
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Residency training program in surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGMC) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
  • Board certification in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS)
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Alaska
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting (preferred)
