Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates tractor/trailer.
- Operates a forklift to load, unload, move product to various locations and stack material.
- Checks tractor and trailer for safe operating condition before use.
- Informs supervisor of any problems or maintenance needs.
- Transports finished goods, packaging materials, and pallets between the Company production facility, distribution center, and outside warehouses.
- Sets up delivery trailers at the Company warehouse and chocks wheels.
- Completes required paperwork.
- Maintains tractor and trailer in neat and clean condition.
- Fulfills safety rules and company policies.
- Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
- Performs other work as directed by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school education plus additional training preferred.
- Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Current Commercial Driver's License and DOT approval.
- Certified forklift operator.
Physical Demands
- Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
- Eye/hand/foot coordination to operate forklift.
Work Environment
- Works outside a significant portion of the day, subject to wide seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetness from rain.
- Some contact with dust, ink, oil, and grease.
- Operates Company vehicles on public highways, on a regular basis.
