Responsibilities
Operate and drive heavy haul trucks to transport large heavy equipment over short distances either early in the morning or late at night.
Loads truck by hand or by operating mechanical loader.
Pulls levers or turns crank to tilt body and dump contents.
Performs inspections of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights, turn signals and brakes.
Ensures cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirements, size up load.
Follows all safety policies, procedures and legislation, at all times observes and operates within applicable traffic laws.
Maintains paper or electronic log book.
Communicates with Dispatcher and other Haul Truck Drivers using communication devices such as a two-way radio or onboard computers.
Moves hand and foot controls to jerk truck forward and backward to loosen and dump material adhering to body.
May drive special purpose vehicles, including: end dump trucks, centre dump truck units, shuttle cars, remix trucks and water trucks.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of haul truck driving experience or a minimum of 2 years of training with a minimum of 6 months of equivalent work experience.
- Willing to work night shift.
- Willing to do labor work.
- Able to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
