4 Hour/Day Preschool Teaching Assistant - ELC
Job Goal
The Preschool Teaching Assistant supports the Teacher and other classroom staff in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for preschool-age children. This role involves implementing instructional activities, supervising students in various settings, assisting with personal care needs, and maintaining a clean, organized classroom. The Teaching Assistant plays a critical role in fostering early learning experiences and promoting positive relationships with children and families.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of: Child growth and development.
- Developmentally appropriate practices and instructional strategies for young children.
- Health, safety, and nutrition guidelines for young children.
- Rules, policies, and procedures relevant to preschool programs.
- Ability To Work in a team situation.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all matters related to students.
- Physically perform job tasks normally associated with the position.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Experience And Training
- One of the following:
- An Early Childhood Education or a related field degree.
- A non-related field with completed coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education, plus sufficient training as determined by the Division.
- An Associate degree with additional training or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) Preschool Credential or Step Level 7 per the Oregon Registry Online (ORO).
- Meet ESSA requirements: two years (72+ quarter credits) college credit or successful completion of WorkKeys test (or other comparable skills evaluation).
Special Requirements
- Maintain current First Aid and Food Handler cards.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English and Spanish is preferred.
SALARY
$20.71 to $26.18 per hour, depending on experience.
