About the Role
The Sanitation Worker-Housekeeping provides basic janitorial duties in offices, restrooms, break areas, and performs sanitation tasks as directed.
Responsibilities
- Clean, mop, and vacuum all common areas daily
- Refill paper goods, hand soaps, and sanitizers as needed
- Maintain PPE and janitorial supply inventories
- Ensure cleanliness of all assigned areas
- Clean floors using a floor scrubber
- Keep exterior grounds free of litter and debris
- Clean and sanitize presumptive areas for environmental findings outside production areas; read chemical labels for safe application, test and record chemical solution strengths
- Maintain the chemical room, unload bulk chemicals, and store chemical drums/totes
- Clean ammonia and boiler rooms
- Clean hazardous spills indoors and outdoors
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices and Safe Quality Food Program standards
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- General understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment
- Ability to make decisions based on standard practices
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and problem solve
- Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be able to work without relocation
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year or more of sanitation experience
- SAP experience
- Basic computer skills
Working Conditions
- Constant standing/walking; frequent bending, flexing, extending neck, gripping, reaching, lifting, and pulling with both hands
- Frequent handling of material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder, and pushing/pulling/carrying
- Required use of hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hard hats, and/or safety glasses
- Occasional exposure to industrial operations, including temperature extremes (35°F to 100°F), noise levels in excess of 85 dB, moisture, and moving machinery
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Use of motor skills to safely drive tow motors or other motorized vehicles in tight quarters
- Must be able to evaluate conditions and behaviors by periodically walking through the plant
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights
