ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment at all times.
  • Responsible for housekeeping and 5s activity in the area.
  • Responsible for product quality through auditing and verification of operator conformance to standards, quality systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Audits products and scrap to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines or methods.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement with a focus on employee involvement.
  • Supports Supervisor in developing personnel through training, performance reviews, and other administrative duties.
  • Responsible for employee training, cross-training, and maintenance of training records.
  • Adjusts manpower assignments to meet production schedules.
  • Assures necessary materials and supplies are available and used appropriately for production.
  • Assists in the implementation of new procedures or processes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Maintains production records.
  • Performs the duties of production workers supervised when needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assists in the supervision of 10 to 25 employees on the production line.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of operations and/or lean experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing industry and the related business processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees or others outside the department.
  • Must be able to read and understand English.
  • Ability to operate proficiently a PC computer, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to draft emails, work in spreadsheets, and create graphs.
  • Ability to navigate network directories and learn to perform duties in enterprise ERP software system.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to interpret company and departmental financial data.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several variables in various situations.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
