3rd Shift Maintenance Manager

Family Dollar’s busy, fully automated retail distribution center in Maquoketa, Iowa is looking to add an experienced Maintenance Manager to our 3rd shift team (Sunday–Thursday, 11 pm – 7 am).

About the role

The Maintenance Department Manager provides maintenance support to the DC operation on their specified shift and leads a team of up to 10 hourly technicians. This role plans, directs, and coordinates maintenance personnel activities while fostering a culture of safety to keep the distribution center in top working order.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency equipment maintenance on systems throughout the DC, including:
  • Rapistan/Dematic conveyor systems
  • Material handling equipment
  • High-tech sortation/automated laser scanners
  • HVAC systems
  • Welding equipment
• Oversee building and ground maintenance
• Resolve various equipment problems
• Assist in safety compliance and programs
• Select, train, motivate, and develop staff
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be able to continuously walk the distribution center for extended periods
• Must be able to lift or move up to 60 lbs
• Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in industrial maintenance preferred
• 3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory and/or management experience

Skills

• Electrical/electronic background and experience with conveyors, welding, air compressors, scanners, electronic controls, or industrial building maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
• Previous experience with MP2 program and PLC preferred
• Familiarity with radio frequency and pick-to-light systems desired
• Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong planning and organization skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
