About the role

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities have maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead/coordinate at least 10 classes weekly (5 daytime, 5 evening) across activities such as aerobics, water exercise, walking, and sports
• Provide one-on-one exercise instruction upon request
• Create individualized exercise plans in coordination with healthcare providers
• Cookordinate with outside health clubs/organizations used by participating clients
• Support prenatal/postpartum exercise planning for pregnant diabetic and at-risk clients
• Contribute fitness education to the Diabetes Control Team and submit a monthly newsletter article
• Cookordinate transportation for client participation as needed; assist with other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED; fitness/health knowledge (certified trainer preferred)
• Strong verbal/written communication; 1 year fitness instruction preferred
• CPR within 3 months; TB test documentation; valid NV driver's license
• Ability to work with Indian people in diverse age groups; evenings/weekends as needed
