2nd Shift Welder
About the role
Welders join metal parts using high heat application to form permanent bonds. They operate welding machines that feed wire to bond materials, plan work by interpreting blueprints, determine welding positions and types of metals to be fused, select and set up welding equipment, and ensure welds meet standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operating welding machine that feeds wire to bond materials

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Certificate or Associate degree in welding
- Minimum 1 year experience in welding
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Team orientation
- Crane operation experience preferred, but not required
- Forklift operation experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Qualifications
- ADA Requirements: Medium work
- Physical Demands: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time. Walking moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Pushing using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward. Grasping applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Visual determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
- Job Conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Skills
Good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of hand tools and power tools, good communication skills, knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques, self-motivated and detail-oriented, team orientation, crane operation experience preferred, forklift operation experience preferred, ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
