Job Summary
To weld and fabricate parts in accordance with specifications and per company workmanship standards by performing the following functions.
Essential Functions
- Analyze blueprints/drawings, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Set up and adjust equipment
- Perform efficient welding of various metal objects, including heavy and light gauge carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless, using both MIG and TIG equipment
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
- Report all non-conforming material to the Welding Team Leader and/or Shop Foreman immediately
- Perform work with the help of various hand and power tools
- Input and maintain data in ERP computer system/Global
- Maintain weld equipment and supplies
- Complete paperwork/job sheets required for the area
- Maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- HS education with a minimum of 2 years of welding experience
- Possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications, and welding symbols
- Must be able to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes
- Must have the ability to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality
- Must be able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and square
- Able and willing to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
