2nd shift Warehouseperson

About the role

The Warehouseperson ensures a smooth flow of material through the facility. They handle all aspects of shipping, receiving, and storage of material.

Responsibilities

• Unloads, stores, and places raw material for processing.
• Verifies material correctness as ordered, adhering to SSAB’s ISO programs.
• Off-loads material from the production line, places it into staging areas.
• Fills customer orders from stock, ensuring proper identification and verifying quality according to ASTM or customer specifications.
• Loads material onto/off trucks or rail cars, verifying material correctness as stated on customer’s BOL/order.
• Safeguards material loaded on railcars.
• Follows daily fork truck and crane inspections.
• Enforces all safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience and Competencies Required: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Education Required: High School diploma/High School Equivalent.
• Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: No direct reports.
• Work Environment And Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, up to 8 hours at a time; frequent use of both hands for grasping, handling, gripping, and feeling textures and temperatures; occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting at waist level, reaching at and/or above shoulder level and below waist level; pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying items weighing less than 50 pounds; working around equipment in motion, amid noise, while wearing personal protective/safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards; working around moving trucks and industrial mobile equipment; working in extreme heat and extreme cold.

Additional Responsibilities

• Train to operate cut-to-length line machines and equipment.
• Train to operate acetylene/plasma cutting beds.
• Train to operate acetylene track torches.
• Assist maintenance.

SSAB Americas is responsible for sales of heavy plate in North America and for steel and plate production in Montpelier, USA.
