About the Role
This semi-skilled supervisory position reports to the Assistant Manager and oversees the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing section. The role is salaried and exempt.
Responsibilities
- Supervise multiple team leaders and act as team leader during absences.
- Oversee Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale in the assigned area.
- Review and correct ADP timekeeping records for accuracy.
- Apply knowledge of fair labor practices.
- Create standard work and die change check sheets for new products.
- Manage production scheduling and control.
- Ensure the three-point set is followed and updated daily.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, including written and verbal evaluations of team members and team leaders.
- Monitor Overall Attendance (OA) daily and correct low OA conditions.
- Teach and enforce company rules and regulations.
- Lead cabbage patch and perfect line activities.
- Complete purchase orders for production materials.
- Correct negative employee behaviors and resolve team member conflicts.
- Track and approve team vacation based on section policy.
- Coordinate overtime and maintain accurate team records.
- Oversee initial and recurring team member training.
- Promote a customer-first attitude among team members.
- Direct problem-solving activities in the manufacturing area.
- Analyze and improve scrap ratio, OA, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Drive continuous improvement in product quality and processes.
- Manage standard work and die change check sheet kaizen and corrections.
- Determine and prepare section training requirements and plans.
- Assist in troubleshooting and ensure line readiness.
- Verify worksheet entries and take prompt corrective action for abnormalities, implementing stop-call-wait protocols.
- Assess and develop the skills of team members and team leaders.
- Collaborate with HR on investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Support cross-sectional efforts to achieve company goals.
- Perform duties in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Complete other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Monitor production, OA, quality, scrap, and employee behavior to meet section targets.
- Work closely with team leads to provide support and guidance.
- Conduct evaluations in accordance with company policies.
- Direct activities to reduce lost time, downtime, and scrap.
- Monitor temporary staff and recommend employment decisions.
- Report downtime per the trouble-solving guide and engage maintenance and production engineering to minimize downtime.
- Communicate with other sections regarding manufacturing team needs and internal customer concerns.
- Analyze issues and propose solutions to management.
- Coordinate with maintenance to resolve equipment issues and report excessive downtime to the Assistant Manager.
Requirements
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing.
- Familiarity with the Toyota Production System.
- In-depth knowledge of AUM manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Advanced knowledge of production concepts (three-point set, lean manufacturing principles: JIT, Kanban, Heijunka, built-in quality).
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage others.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with coworkers.
