About the role

The position involves operating a yard truck safely during various drop & hook and staging scenarios, involving both loaded and empty trailers. Responsibilities include spotting trailers at assigned dock spaces for unloading or loading, performing daily inspections on the spotter truck and equipment, reporting defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages, and maintaining logs of trailer movements and fuel.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the yard truck in a safe manner, during numerous drop & hook and staging scenarios
  • Involving both loaded and empty trailers
  • Spot positions loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading
  • Spot trailers on lot and some local runs
  • Perform daily inspections on spotter truck and equipment
  • Report defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles and/or equipment
  • Maintain logs of trailer movements and fuel
  • Check trailer inventory and report any irregularities on log forms
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

A valid CDL Class A license is required.

Qualifications

Must have a strong safety record and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Skills

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
