GENERAL PURPOSE
This position supports the safe, efficient, and high-quality conversion of rough lumber into precision-milled components that meet production schedules and customer quality requirements.
Essential Functions
- Assembles or prepares rough mill components and subcomponents according to established work instructions, prints, and quality standards.
- Performs work at a standard rate based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles.
- Follows standard work methods and safe work practices to ensure consistent quality and workplace safety.
- Participates in cross-training across rough mill processes to support production flexibility and skill development.
- Operates rough mill machinery such as saws, planers, moulders, ripsaws, and related equipment to fabricate and process lumber to specifications.
- Sets up, monitors, and adjusts equipment to ensure proper operation, dimensional accuracy, and product quality.
- Uses measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges) to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
- Identifies machine or quality issues and works with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.
- Supports production flow by ensuring materials are available at the right time and location.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support business objectives, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Education/Experience: One of the following is required:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example),
- Work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
- Skills And Abilities: Competent in basic math skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, and simple measurements. Ability to work cooperatively within a team and across departments to meet production goals. Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

- Ability to read and interpret measurements and specifications.
- Preferred advanced math or technical skills related to equipment setup and dimensional tolerances (e.g., GD&T exposure).
- Ability to use precision measuring tools accurately.
- Ability to influence safe behaviors and support continuous improvement within the team.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
