Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain Amada CNC punch press machines to fabricate sheet metal components according to specifications
- Load and unload raw materials (sheet metal) onto the punch press equipment safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings to determine machine setup and production requirements
- Select, install, and align tooling (dies, punches) based on job specifications
- Program or input CNC data as required, including offsets, tool paths, and nesting layouts (if applicable)
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, accuracy, and productivity standards are met
- Troubleshoot machine issues and make minor adjustments to maintain production flow
- Maintain proper documentation, including production records, inspection reports, and downtime logs
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment per preventive maintenance schedules
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other operators to improve efficiency and workflow
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC punch press machines preferred
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and tooling setup
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Basic computer skills for machine interface and data entry
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing setting
