About the Role

As Production Supervisor, you will lead frontline production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality processing operations. Serving as a critical link between management and production teams, you will help implement company standards, meet productivity goals, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review daily production orders to ensure customer order fulfillment.
  • Ensure all production line positions are staffed prior to start-up.
  • Oversee team member morning exercises and job rotation to support ergonomics.
  • Monitor machinery performance to maintain optimal operational standards.
  • Ensure all workstations comply with USDA or equivalent inspection requirements.
  • Promote safety culture through daily engagement and monthly safety meetings.
  • Manage accurate shipments, inventory rotation, and proper product coding.
  • Communicate company benefits and compensation policies to team members.
  • Provide encouragement and leadership to build a motivated and cohesive team.
  • Handle human relations functions including training, retention, and counseling.
  • Supervise various processing operations and collaborate with other supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Maintain records of reworked or returned products.
  • Deliver ongoing education reinforcing the importance of quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

  • Non-Negotiable Requirements:
    • Minimum of 3 years supervisory or management experience in the meat processing industry, preferably pork or beef production.
    • Willingness and ability to relocate to Waterloo, Iowa, to support on-site operational leadership.
    • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a meat industry environment with prior supervisory experience preferred.
    • High school diploma required; additional vocational training or college coursework preferred.
    • Basic computer skills, familiarity with production tracking and reporting systems (e.g., SAP, Kronos, WMS) advantageous.
    • Strong communication skills essential.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement (CI) practices in meat processing a plus.
    • Able to supervise personnel performing related tasks.
