About the role

The Production Supervisor oversees a team of up to 120 employees, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards. They are responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees, as well as managing their performance and addressing issues.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises up to 120 employees and ensures they meet established policies and regulations.
  • Coaches, directs, and evaluates employee performance, conducting coaching or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensures safety, quality, and adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Manages employee attendance and approves time-off requests.
  • Trains and cross-trains employees, maintaining training records.
  • Coordinates and maintains visual controls in production areas.
  • Verifies product and material identification, handling, and storage.
  • Addresses process and equipment problems, facilitating problem-solving teams.
  • Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality, and productivity using lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Organizes work for efficient operations, adjusting staffing levels and equipment requirements as needed.
  • Attends leadership development and training as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of experience in leadership or supervision in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Supervisory experience, higher education/training, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in oral and written communication, including telephone conversations.
  • Proficiency in using PC computers, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications.
  • Ability to navigate and perform duties in enterprise ERP and timekeeping software systems.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Interpreting company and departmental financial data.
