Job Summary

The Process Technician role is responsible for setting up and maintaining production equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. This position will work closely with production teams to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and production is running efficiently. Must follow Altor Solutions’ standards for Safety, Quality, and Production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Develop the molding process for each tool to run optimum cycle times while producing high quality products that meet the standards of the customer
  • Improve Quality of Products molded through improvements to the molding process
  • Reduce costs through reduction of scrap rates on each tool
  • Work with Operations and Engineering to make specific recommendations on details of NEW tooling construction including but not limited to filling device and ejector type and location
  • Fill/non-fill side selection, bypass location, draft and other mold cavity features
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to recommend modifications to tools to improve the molding process
  • Aid the operators with packaging concerns
  • Set up and maintain production equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
  • Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and efficiently
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure that equipment is set up to meet production needs
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance
  • Follow plant specified job specification, task list and completion of all requirement paperwork
  • Conduct him/herself in a safe manner and adhere to all required safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout

Requirements

  • Education Requirement/Work Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, minimum 3-6 months of relevant manufacturing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work experience in mold changing with knowledge of the EPS molding process required. Experience with reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics. Knowledge or experience with using ERP/MRP systems. Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; must be able to visually identify and trouble shoot issues with the machine processes. Must be able to read gauges, paperwork, and other visuals associated with the process.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers; talk and hear. Frequently required to reach, stoop, bend, squat, stretch, and twist. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Must be able to work in, with, and near machinery and work with hand tools. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, safety glasses and steel/composite toe shoes, and gloves.
  • Hearing protection and PPE is based on job assignments, tasks, or work areas. Must apply critical thinking to perform problem solving for complex tasks. The employee must be able to work at heights and be able to use a ladder.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high level with ear protection required. Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise. Heat and cold exposure is dependent on external weather temperatures. Work areas may occasionally have wet or damp conditions.
