2nd Shift Museum Attendants (Part-Time/OPS)

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, located in Sarasota, Florida, is a department of Florida State University.

Responsibilities

• Assisting guests while ensuring a high level of customer service.
• Working a variety of assigned posts and events on the museum grounds and buildings, including at the Center for Performing Arts.
• Patrolling buildings and 66-acre grounds on foot and by golf cart.
• Preserving the safety of staff, visitors, and the protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds.
• Monitoring for suspicious activity, potential hazards, or safety issues.
• Occasionally utilizing computers to write reports, send correspondence, and submit work orders.
• Handling emergencies such as medical situations, fire alarms, or emergency evacuations.
• Escorting staff and guests as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
• Ability to:
  • Stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ascend/descend stairs.
  • Work in all types of weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with:
  • Customer service.
  • Museum or non-profit settings.
• Ability to:
  • Respond calmly to urgent/emergency situations.
  • Promote a welcoming work/education environment.

Pay

$15.96 per hour (28 hours a week).

Schedule

• 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
• Weekends, days, or holidays may be required based on the needs of The Ringling.

This is an OPS/temporary position. Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check. Work location: Sarasota, FL. Employees are required to wear the standard-issue uniform while at work.
