The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, located in Sarasota, Florida, is a department of Florida State University.
Responsibilities
- Assisting guests while ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Working a variety of assigned posts and events on the museum grounds and buildings, including at the Center for Performing Arts.
- Patrolling buildings and 66-acre grounds on foot and by golf cart.
- Preserving the safety of staff, visitors, and the protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds.
- Monitoring for suspicious activity, potential hazards, or safety issues.
- Occasionally utilizing computers to write reports, send correspondence, and submit work orders.
- Handling emergencies such as medical situations, fire alarms, or emergency evacuations.
- Escorting staff and guests as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
- Ability to:
- Stand and walk for long periods.
- Ascend/descend stairs.
- Work in all types of weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Customer service.
- Museum or non-profit settings.
- Ability to:
- Respond calmly to urgent/emergency situations.
- Promote a welcoming work/education environment.
Pay
$15.96 per hour (28 hours a week).
Schedule
- 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
- Weekends, days, or holidays may be required based on the needs of The Ringling.
This is an OPS/temporary position. Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check. Work location: Sarasota, FL. Employees are required to wear the standard-issue uniform while at work.
