About the role
U.S. Lumber, an SBP brand, is currently hiring for a 2nd Shift Loading Supervisor for our Altoona, PA branch, operating out of Claysburg, PA. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing an operations team to properly load and secure outbound delivery trucks. Expect this role to work cooperatively with other branch leaders, and to be the senior leader and decision maker on nightshift in the Claysburg yard on behalf of the business.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Responsible for the leading a team of yard associates and material handlers to load customer orders of building materials onto curtain side and/or flatbed trailers.
- Ensures the organization and cleanliness of the yard, including product cleanliness and proper labeling.
- Monitors the work progress of loaders to ensure that orders are loaded on outbound trucks in a timely manner, quality checked and properly secured for transport.
- Ensures that all loaders are working in a safe manner with the needed tools and equipment. Responsible for addressing any safety violations, and reports accidents to branch leadership.
- Responsible for execution of the customer returns processing including inspection, restocking, and system adjustments.
- Participates in the oversight of shuttle process for materials between the Bellwood PA and Claysburg PA location, including unloading, checking, staging, loading and shipping as necessary.
- Oversees the serviceability and inspection paperwork for the forklifts. Addresses any maintenance concerns with Branch Management and/or the company's forklift service provider.
- Expected to assist Yard Associates with the execution of their job responsibilities when necessary. Must achieve and maintain forklift certification.
- Manages the flow of work orders and work product through the work shift to ensure maximum efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of the Yard Associates.
- Responsible for all appropriate transactions in Agility, including sales order release and resolution, material receiving and adjustments, substitutions (re-man), etc.
- Performs cycle counts as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Job Requirements
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items. Requires the ability to frequently lift more than 50 lbs.
- Requires moving around the yard to assist others or moving merchandise themselves.
- Identify and read tickets, SKU's, UPC labels and reports. Requires recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and necessary reports.
- Gripping used to operate machinery or hand tools.
- Working on uneven working surfaces (outdoor lumber yard), including working in variable weather conditions and temperatures.
- Sharp and/or rough edges will typically be encountered.
- Yard equipment and treated lumber may emit fumes.
Required Credentials
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- 4 years' related experience in distribution or building materials environment.
- 2 years of leadership experience.
- High School diploma.
- Must have basic math and analytical skills, and familiarity with Microsoft suite.
- Must pass the required pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Flexible with scheduling.
- Successfully complete any required training or orientation programs.
- Experience with Agility preferred.
