2nd Shift Controls Engineer
Responsibilities
- Design and develop control panels for custom machinery, ensuring compliance with internal standards and industry regulations.
- Modify, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to integrate controls into new and existing equipment.
- Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to support machine builds and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices in industrial automation.
- Support installation, wiring, and commissioning of automated equipment on the production floor.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, efficiency, and system performance.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in industrial controls engineering, preferably in manufacturing or machine building.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and modification (ladder logic, function block, structured text).
- Strong understanding of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 70E, or similar).
- Hands-on experience wiring machines and control systems.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics using CAD tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with automated sorting systems or material-handling equipment.
- Familiarity with VFDs, sensors, and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, etc.).
- Knowledge of machine safety standards (ISO, ANSI, or OSHA).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.

Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this position is $55.29 - $60.10/hr.

This is a Contract position based out of Lebanon, TN.
