2nd Shift Annealing Operator

About the role

As an Annealing Operator, you will operate and monitor furnaces to soften metal, ensuring it meets customer specifications and quality standards. This fully on-site role is based in Waterbury, CT.

Responsibilities

• Wear appropriate PPE as described in Job Safety Practices (JSP) and comply with all Wieland safety rules and regulations.
• Read, understand, and follow Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Detect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions to the Supervisor.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Set up and operate Strip Annealing Equipment, monitoring material and machine parameters for compliance with specifications.
• Adjust speed, atmospheric, and combustion controls as required.
• Add and remove weights from the tensioning device to ensure proper tracking and quality output.
• Continuously monitor temperature and combustion controls.
• Inspect strip for surface defects and run sample tests to determine compliance with specifications.
• Use electronic contact and non-contact gauges, indicators, and controls to operate the machine and check product.
• Check material for surface finish or other properties and communicate with the metrology lab to ensure specifications are met.
• Move material using forklifts, transporters, cranes, and pallet jacks.
• Direct the work of helpers or assistant operators to maximize machine uptime, quality, and productivity.
• Perform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.
• Become proficient in using Wieland Factory Suite (WFS).

Requirements

• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to maintain production records and logs.
• Reliable employment record and above-average attendance.
• Ability to perform simple math (addition and subtraction).
• Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability.
• Mechanically inclined with comfort using small hand tools.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $30.20 – $31.20 per hour, with a $0.40/hour shift differential for 2nd Shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm). Pay is issued weekly.
