As a 2nd Grade Teacher, you will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a program of instruction aligned with the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and incorporate real-world, application-based examples.
  • Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
  • Maximize educational achievement for each student using a variety of teaching modalities and differentiated instruction.
  • Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments of student learning, provide appropriate activities to address needs, and generate progress reports.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share insights for curriculum improvement.
  • Assist in the ongoing curriculum revision process, including updating written courses of study.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Familiarize yourself with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of classroom activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
  • Implement relevant policies governing student conduct and develop fair classroom/playground behavior rules.
  • Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Participate in curriculum planning with other staff members during designated meetings.
  • Incorporate diagnostic information from students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities for effective instruction.
  • Strive to establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via all appropriate mediums.
  • Cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA; maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.

  • Effective instructional delivery techniques.

Work Environment

  • Usual office working conditions.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
  • Travel within or outside of state may be required.

This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
