2nd Grade Teacher

Crescent Academy serves over 500 students in grades PreK-11, focusing on a whole-child approach that fosters a college-bound culture through strong character, academic achievement, and civic engagement.

About the role

The Elementary Teacher will create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment for 4th-6th grade students, fostering a love for learning and supporting student development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on curriculum standards, catering to diverse learning styles.
• Design assessments and monitor student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to support the institution’s mission.
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment for all students.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Ensure regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid Michigan teaching certification/license with an endorsement in the grade level.
• Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
