As a 2nd Grade Teacher, you will join a team dedicated to this mission, inspiring and motivating young learners and putting students first in education. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instruction consistent with CSUSA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives, ensuring effective teaching strategies and maximizing time on task.
• Present subject matter in ways that maximize learning, using real-world, application-based examples and learning opportunities.
• Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs; maintain accurate and complete student records.
• Strive to maximize the educational achievement of each student by using varied learning modalities, differentiated instruction, and frequent diagnostic assessments.
• Assess student strengths and weaknesses regularly, provide targeted activities to address needs, and generate required progress reports.
• Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel; assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
• Coordinate class field trips as required; prepare students for state-required achievement assessments.
• Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, share insights for curriculum improvement, and assist in curriculum revision and selection of instructional materials.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students’ maturity and interests, and maintain positive rapport with students.
• Ensure classroom is clean, safe, and includes student-generated work on display; implement policies governing student conduct and maintain fair, consistent classroom order.
• Develop lesson plans consistent with guidelines and goals, incorporating diagnostic information from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when applicable.
• Establish cooperative relations with parents/guardians, communicate clearly and positively via appropriate channels, and maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
• Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to support school culture and student/staff success as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
• Valid teaching certification (as appropriate for location).
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include student teaching internship).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
• Understanding of and commitment to CSUSA’s values.
• Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
• Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
• Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
