Responsibilities
Impact on Education
- Plans and implements a program of instruction adhering to the company's philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
- Creates purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that maximize time on task and provide effective teaching strategies.
- Presents subject matter to maximize learning opportunities, incorporating real-world, application-based examples.
- Reviews student records to understand each student's abilities and needs.
- Maintains accurate and complete student records.
- Maximizes the educational achievement of each student through differentiated instruction and varied learning modalities.
- Uses diagnostic assessments frequently to gauge student learning, providing appropriate activities to address needs and generating progress reports.
- Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
- Assigns lessons, corrects student work, and reviews oral presentations.
- Coordinates class field trips as required.
- Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
- Stays current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing insights for curriculum improvement.
- Assists in curriculum revision, including updating written courses of study.
- Assists in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Becomes familiar with supplemental services beneficial to students as extensions of classroom activities.
Classroom Environment
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests.
- Maintains positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support growth.
- Ensures the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student-generated work as appropriate.
- Implements relevant policies governing student conduct.
- Develops reasonable rules for classroom and playground behavior in line with CSUSA policy, maintaining order fairly and consistently.
Instructional Planning
- Develops lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
- Plans individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepares for assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request.
- Participates in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
- Incorporates diagnostic information from students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) into planning.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities for effective instruction.
School and Community Relations
- Establishes cooperative relations and communicates with parents/guardians when appropriate.
- Communicates clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via all appropriate mediums.
- Cooperates with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding student records.
- Participates in parent communication activities and extracurricular activities to foster a positive school culture and support students and staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
- Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
- Understanding of and commitment to company values.
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
- Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
- Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
