2nd Assistant Engineer - Full Time (Horseshoe Hammond)

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in performing general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs of the vessel, machinery and equipment under the guidance of the Chief or Assistant Engineers.
• Affords assistance in various projects, inspections, and assigned work not covered in previous duties.
• Maintains safe working conditions/habits and completes required safety training.
• Maintains clean and organized machinery spaces.
• Uses, maintains, and returns all tools and equipment used during the shift correctly.
• Able to react to changes in productivity and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Performs assigned duties during emergency response situations.
• Utilizes the work order system properly.
• Substitutes leadership role when there is no licensed assistant engineer on shift.
• Leads marine tasks to ensure safe working conditions/habits.
• Coxswains rescue and/or work boats as assigned.
• Maintains proper safety and regulatory work logs.
• Assists with training engine utilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess basic mechanical skills, good reasoning ability, and a willingness to learn engineering department duties.
• Must have a QMED certification with “Oiler” endorsement or professional equivalent.
• Previous mechanical experience is advantageous.
• Must pass re-employment drug test.
• Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must qualify for, obtain, and maintain a gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, if applicable.
• Access to the vessel is required.
